The high material costs will be offset by cost improvements. Despite the stabilization of the yen, operating income is expected to improve. In a leadership change for the first time in 14 years, Mr. Toyoda stepped down as president and assumed the role of chairman, while Mr. Sato, an engineer, was appointed as the new president. For EVs, the company is revising its manufacturing methods to develop dedicated platforms, different from those used for hybrid vehicles. The company has also formed a partnership with a major Thai conglomerate to introduce FCVs.”
